The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, paid a visit to the Ghana Methodist Students’ Union (GHAMSU) at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Local on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

During his visit, he declared, “We have a biblical mandate to live a sanctified life.” Addressing a packed auditorium at the SK Agyapong Lecture Theatre, the Presiding Bishop delivered a stirring call for holiness, spiritual discipline, and moral integrity among Christian students. He urged them to set themselves apart by sanctifying themselves, emphasizing that sanctification is a cardinal doctrine of the Methodist Church Ghana.

The Presiding Bishop’s visit aimed to connect more deeply with the youth of the Church, particularly those in tertiary institutions. In his keynote address, he extended warm greetings to the Vice Chancellor of UCC and expressed gratitude to the GHAMSU leadership and the Diocesan Bishop for their contributions to the growth of the Methodist Church Ghana.

In his sermon, themed “Divine Wonders Come to Those Who Wait,” the Presiding Bishop emphasized that Christians must live according to biblical principles. He commended young people who engage in dawn ministrations, highlighting their dedication to spiritual discipline.

Following his sermon, the Presiding Bishop announced the upcoming launch of the Methodist Entrepreneurship and Development Programme at Aburi. The program will feature a new 2,000-capacity pavilion to be constructed for such activities.

This year’s celebration which occurred on the 15th of February, 2025 at the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) Auditorium, themed That I May Know Him, was inspired by Philippians 3:10: “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death.” The event featured outstanding performances by the Wesleyan Theatre and guest ministering groups, including Mass Theatre and Wesleyan Vibration Theatre from GHAMSU UEW Local. Their energetic and skilful presentations captivated and uplifted the audience.

A highlight of the night was the guest minister, Abimime, whose powerful mime performances delivered silent yet profound sermons. She conveyed God’s love and redemption through her extraordinary talent, touching many hearts without uttering a single word.

Passion Night 2025 was a night of inspiration, creativity, and spiritual awakening, uniting performers and spectators in a shared experience of faith and artistry.

Learning and Leaning on the Rock of Ages: Ms. Gifty D.A Terkper’s Journey to Valedictorian

Meet Ms. Gifty D.A Terkper, the shining star crowned valedictorian and Overall Best Graduating Student of the College of Education Studies at the 57th Congregation.

From struggles to success, Ms. Gifty has proven that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible. Having graduated from the University of Cape Coast with a CGPA 4.0, Ms Gifty is a true definition of faith with works.

She hails from Krobo Odumase in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region. A product of Ghana Senior High School, Koforidua 2020 batch, Ms. Gifty gained admission to UCC in 2021 to pursue a BSc in psychology. She is a devout member of the Methodist Church Ghana and Ghana Methodist Students’ Union (GHAMSU UCC Local).

Apart from academic work, Ms. Gifty held some positions in GHAMSU UCC Local, such as Internal Rep, SRC Hall, 2021/22, and Prayer Secretary, Women’s Ministry, 2021/22. She rose from this position to become the Assistant Diocesan Secretary for GHAMSU Cape Coast Diocese in 2022/23 and subsequently became the Secretary for GHAMSU Cape Coast Diocese in the following academic and spiritual year.

In an interview with Ms. Gifty, she reiterates that academic excellence is a hallmark in the Methodist Church Ghana and that she had to capitalize on that to also shine to the world. She stated that, even though she had some academic challenges, she sought help from some teaching assistants and lecturers, one of which is Prof. Lebbaeus Asamani, who encouraged her to be herself and focus on her studies always.

She eventually overcame these challenges by participating in group studies (peer teaching) and also consistently going through her notes. Ms Gifty dreams of becoming a Clinical and Neuropsychologist to help promote mental health. Reflecting on the lyrics of MHB 431 from the Methodist Hymnal, the last stanza, “Finish then thy new creation, pure and spotless let us be…” Ms. Gifty is optimistic that she is being changed from glory into glory until she is lost in wonder, love and praise.

Ms. Gifty’s advice to students is that there should be a balance in their academics with Godly activities. It is without a doubt that when you make God’s service your delight, He will make your want His care.

Indeed, It is a glorious end for Mrs. Gifty  Terkper and GHAMSU UCC Local as a whole.

Rev. Nathaniel Dua Dodd, a seasoned ordained minister of the Methodist Church Ghana, will be the Guest Speaker for this year’s Manifestation.

Harmonizing Hearts: Behind the Scenes of Music and Drama Night with GHAMSU Choir, Gospel Dynamics, and GHAMSU Praise and Adoration

In the vibrant tapestry of our spiritual community, Music and Drama Night stands as a beacon of creativity, unity, and inspiration. As we anticipate another enchanting evening filled with melodies, harmonies, and compelling performances, it’s time to delve into the origins and preparations behind this cherished event. In an exclusive interview with the directors of three prominent groups—Evergreen Choir, Gospel Dynamics, and GHAMSU Praise and Adoration—we uncover the heartfelt stories and diligent efforts that have shaped Music and Drama Night into the uplifting experience it has become. Join us as we journey behind the curtains and explore the dedication, passion, and anticipation that infuse this remarkable celebration of faith and artistic expression.

FROM GOPSEL DYNAMICS MUSIC DIRECTOR

I’d first of all thank you so much for this opportunity. So M&D stands for Music and Drama Night although it’s unfortunate we don’t add the ‘N’. Music and Drama Night is a biennial program organized by GHAMSU UCC Local through the four ministering wings; GHAMSU Praise and Adoration (GPA), GHAMSU Choir, Wesleyan Theatre (WT), and Gospel Dynamics (GD).

For the past years, the program has been organised in two consecutive times, or editions, the first and second of which happened in 2017 and 2019, respectively. God being so good, the Third Edition is happening in 2024 and is dated on the 16th of March, 2024.

Personally, as the current Music Director of Gospel Dynamics, it is my very first time to experience the program, and that speaks volumes about how we will have to prepare ourselves for it. Rehearsals have prevailed so seriously that all is set and poised for the program. We organized rehearsals and meetings in addition to the already existing meeting days we had. All to see to it that we put in our very best for the glory of God.

FROM GHAMSU CHOIR DIRECTOR

There was a time where Ghamsu had only two slots for a program within the academic year because the chaplaincy wanted to organize a crusade and didn’t want denominations organizing programs at the time.

GHAMSU decided to have manifestation, and then the four ministering wings also decided to come together and organize one big program, which is Music and Drama Night. Meaning MnD is Jubilate Deo, Dypraise, and Passion Night all together.

The GHAMSU Choir UCC Local is very much prepared to minister powerful songs and soul inspiring music. We want to offer our fragrance of worship to God and everyone should expect nothing but soothing melodies from the choir and more.

I believe that our Ministrations will cause a change in the lives of people who will be present.

FROM GHAMSU PRAISE AND ADORATION DIRECTOR

So Music and Drama Night is a program that is hosted to unify the 4 ministering wings in GHAMSU and also to win souls to God. The programme is very mega and powerful because it’s a four-in-one program. GPA is ready for the angelic move of God on Saturday, God willing and and everyone should expect an ordinary ministration but also be prepared for an angelic ministration.
